Richard Melrod has over 25 years of experience in business management with over 15 years in the commercial real estate industry. He is experienced in all facets of property management operations and was Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Kay Management Company for over ten years. He was instrumental in modernizing the financial and property management systems and turning Kay Management into one of the top residential property management companies in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area.
Before joining Kay Management in 1990, Mr. Melrod worked for over 12 years as a strategic planning management consultant for the Hospital Corporation of America and American Medical International in the investor-owned hospital management industry.
Mr. Melrod is originally from Millburn, New Jersey. He moved to Washington, DC in 1976 to obtain his Master’s Degree in Hospital Management at the George Washington University School of Government and Business Administration. Mr. Melrod also has a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Bachelor’s from Washington and Jefferson College.
Mr. Melrod served on the Board of Directors, was the Maryland Political Action Committee Chairman, served on the Legislative Review Committee, and was a major force in fund-raising activities for the Apartment and Office Building Association (AOBA). Mr. Melrod was the recipient of AOBA’s award for Outstanding Leadership in 1998 and 1999. He is also a member of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), the Property Management Association (PMA), and the National Board of Realtors.
